Boutique Rant

I try really hard not rant or complain about things because I like to have good energy around as much as possible. But, I have to get this out there.

As a customer, I visit many boutiques and I have recently noticed a growing trend at boutiques that have a central checkout (vendors are not there, just their stuff). These vendors are not putting out business cards! Why?! Sometimes I do not want to purchase an item right away, but I might want to later and I want their info, on a business card. The info is on their products or product cards, but you have to purchase that day to get the info. I did happen to come across one of those vendors at his booth and when I asked for a business card he just held up the product with his company information on it and flat out said "if you want the info, you have to buy the product". No way! Don't be cheap! Put out a business card!

As long as I am venting, I might as well get this out there too. PUT PRICES ON PRODUCTS or at least a price list up. I HATE having to ask what the price is. I do not have time or patience to ask how much something that you are selling costs. I may like the product and not purchase just because of that!

Some people need to got to Boutique Etiquette School. Wait, here is a list for them:
  • Put prices on all of your items. If you can't do that, at least put up an nicely organized price list.
  • Always have business cards available and easy to find.
  • Do not overcrowd your display (I may be guilty of this).
  • Always dress appropriate for the boutique you are at.
  • Hygiene is important (I have walked away from booths because the seller just came back in from a cigarette break and smelled horribly bad, if they smell bad, the products might also.
  • Do not ignore a potential customer so that you can finish your text message, level up on a game or finish a conversation with your booth buddy (yes I have been completely ignored when I wanted to purchase something or had a question about the item). I did not make the purchase.
  • Always be friendly and don't assume that I may or may not be able to afford what you are selling.
